On the recent 10 day visit to Kenya, the team were overwhelmed by the numbers of people waiting to be seen. The numbers of people needing eye care grew daily. By the end of the first week the numbers queuing rose to 500 every day. Some of these people had started queuing from 8am and had waited for up to 13 hours to be seen by the SeeKenya team.
At the end of the week over 450 people had been examined and 30 people had been referred for further medical treatment. 750 pairs of spectacles were given out to help people see and 500 sunglasses were given away to help prevent against sun damage and future eye diseases. Over 400 children had received drops to prevent trachoma.
